Claims & History
The family has heard 30's and 40's music throughout the house. Items placed in the kitchen, such as cell phones and keys, often disappear and later appear in a bedroom closet, under the attic access. The family experiences general feelings of being watched. They have heard children late at night (about 10:30 p.m.), and it sounded like the sounds were coming from under the house. They have also heard the pantry door open and/or close and experienced phantom smells.
Personal Experiences
During the investigation, several investigators smelled a burnt match in the living room area. No match had been lit during the time we were present. The furnace also had no burnt match smell. We could never pinpoint the burnt match smell. Around the same time, Jeremy smelled a vanilla-type smell in one of the bedrooms. Several other investigators experienced the same smell. Upon further investigation, we noticed that there was a plug-in type air freshener in the closet of the bedroom. However, the fragrance of the air freshener did not match the smell that was smelled by the investigators. We have no explanation for these smells.
While Brian, Lisa, and Leon were investigating in the master bedroom, Steffanie heard a noise in the kitchen, which she described as the kitchen chair moving. Nobody was in the kitchen. We were unable to record video of any movement in the kitchen. Two digital recorders picked up the noise, but it is impossible to determine what the noise was, or whether it is paranormal in nature. The noise occurs at the two second mark, just after Lisa asks, "Are you scared?"
Evidence
We caught two EVP's from this location
This first EVP occurred when three of our investigators (two males and one female) were investigating in one of the bedrooms. At thestart of the clip, you will hear the client talking, and then Leon tells the entity it can walk in front of the K-II meter, or green light. Listen very carefully at the ten second mark, and you will hear that he received a response. The "okay" you hear is not the voice of one of the investigators.
The second EVP also came from one of the bedrooms. In this clip, you can hear the client and Leon talking about how small the bathroom is in the house. At the twelve second mark, you can hear another voice that doesn’t belong to any investigator.
We believe this EVP says “I think we’re okay in here.” Interestingly enough, this EVP came from a recorder that was close to the bedroom closet, from where many of the claims originated. Even more interesting is that the EVP was not captured on the Zoom H2, a recorderthat is much more sensitive than the recorder that caught the EVP, and which can catch a whisper from about twenty feet away. The Zoom was located less than ten feet from the recorder which caught the EVP.
The only male investigators near those recorders at the time were Leon and Jeremy. The voice is clearly not Leon’s, and video footage show that Jeremy was standing right next to the Zoom H2, and any sound he made would have undooubtedly been picked up on the recording device. We can only conclude this was a true EVP. The fact that it was only picked up by one recorder when it should have been picked up by both only bolsters the paranormal nature of the clip.
Debunked Claims
When we first began plugging in equipment, we had problems setting up a camera in the master bedroom. We set up two different cameras, using two different lines to the DVR, but neither would work properly. Finally, we set up a camcorder in the bedroom. Upon further inspection of the outlets, we determined that the house has electrical issues. When we used an
electromagnetic field (EMF) detector, on an outlet near the west outside wall of the kitchen, the EMF spiked and was off the range of the EMF detector. There is a theory that some people can be sensitive to high EMF, which can lead to hallucinations, nausea, paranoia, headaches, etc. This could explain some of the occurrences at the home.
We were also able to provide some explanation for the sounds of children coming from under the house. When Jeremy was outside looking for a crawl space, he noticed a cat running under the front porch of the house. When reviewing evidence, the sound of a cat was recorded on two separate occasions. While this sound may not have been exactly like the sound the client heard, the sound could easily be confused for a baby or small child crying
Conclusions
Based on the EVPs gathered, PSL believes that there is paranormal activity in this house. However, none of the members of PSL felt threatened at any point. In fact, the EVP seems to indicate that the entity(ies) were hiding, and may have been scared of us.
UPDATE
The owner has reported that she had a minister pray in the house, and the activity has stopped
